Arrival in Ireland, Around Dublin, and Cambra Castle

After a long trip from Honolulu, we made it to Ireland.

When we got into Ireland and the Dublin International Airport it was about 5:30 in the morning. Our initial plan was to collect our luggage, grab our rental car, and then find somewhere to eat and hang out till we had to meet up for our Dublin tour at 11am. After getting our car relatively quickly we realized that not that many places were open and waiting around half tired and starved might not be the best way to go--especially with our luggage in our car.

We then made the decision to drive to Cambra Castle where we would be staying the night--about an hour and ten minute drive from Dublin. Our hope was that maybe we could check in and get our room, but at the very least drop off our luggage and have them hold it while we went back to Dublin. Fortunately for us they had a room available when we arrived that early in the morning. After getting our luggage settled and taking a really short nap (all of 30 minutes) we headed back down to Dublin for our walking tour.

We were running a little late but managed to make it to our tour group just as they were about to head out. For not really being based in Dublin, going on the walking tour was a really good and quick way to get ourselves a little oriented with the city for the amount of time. Our guide lead us around for almost two hours over the course of one and a half miles of the city give us a lot of history and background to buildings, places, and events that shaped the city (indicated in blue on the map below).

After our tour we set out on our own to find something to eat as well as cruise around the Grafton Street shopping district (pictured in red on the map). Once we finished eating and bought some supplies, we headed back to our car for the return trip back to Cambra Castle . . . the third and final trip of the day.
